This large project came about due to a complete upgrade of the Heron Corn Mill building and facilities which resulted in the re-opening of the working Mill as a living heritage site, open to the public as a venue for events, as well as an educational and heritage centre.
The original Mill was opened in 1740 and was active until 1958. The design project reflects BDS Design’s ongoing work in the heritage and culture sector.
BDS Web proposed representing the working Mill as a contemporary destination with values of heritage and education without being corporate.
In order to achieve this goal BDS Design worked closely with BDS Web on the website and game app while applying its own extensive experience in interpretation and design to other parts of the project.
The Heron Corn Mill living heritage site can be visited at Corn Mill Lane, Beetham, Milnthorpe, Cumbria LA7 7PQ.
